Job--what a guy!

I've been reading the book of Job. He had some great wisdom: "When you mock God, shouldn't someone make you ashamed?", "Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?" Great words to ponder!

rebirth?

I found this huge beetle on the sidewalk last week, flipped over and dead- looking. Three days later, I turned him over and he started moving his legs trying to crawl. Haven't looked lately but I'm pretty sure he was paralyzed or sickly cuz he couldn't get far.

camping

We went camping at Redwing along the Mississippi two weekends ago. Bad factory smell and rather crowded but they did serve donuts on Sunday morning!

This is Tim's new friend, Rico. He basically got up with a beer in his hand and went to bed with one at nite--nice guy tho!?!?

59 years!

"Don't take good friends, good health, or a good marriage for granted". Last Tues., Tim and I took my parents out for their 59th Anniversary--what a huge accomplishment. They have been basically healthy, except for the usual old age stuff and we are fortunate to still have them with us. I remember my dad thinking he wouldn't live to their 50th, so we had a party for their 40th and now it's 19 years later and he's still here! On Wed we loaded up the dogs and went to Green Bay for some family time.

The guys

Tim and Lee worked on phase two of straightening the fence. Isaac tried to help but unfortunately sort of got in the way and wanted the tools, so the little guy had to stay inside with Grandma most of the day. It's rough being small!

On Thursday, my 3 girls and myself and Tim's sister, Tami, went up to Door county for a girlie day. It was great to be with them all at the same time. We had lunch and wondered thru many little shops without buying much. The company was the BEST!

The goats

We went to Sister Bay, mainly to see the goats that live on the roof of this one resturant. They put them up there to graze each day. I guess that's how they do it in the Scandinavian countries.

project complete

Our screen porch is now completed and I have been enjoying nesting! It is so peaceful and now I have breakfast with the birds.


I put in pavers ( not a fun job in the sun) and filled in the area around the porch with cedar chips. We just have to put in the lattice around the bottom and it will be finished.

Pat and John and kids came last weekend to attend a Twins game. Here's Christopher doing his Steve Erkel imatation.
They brought us some beans so I blanched them and froze them. Reminded me of my days as a cook at a small cafe--I think I lasted 3 months, maybe 4. We made our own french fries and always blanched them after we cut them up.

signs of summer
