Dad

Last week I took my Dad to Eau Claire to try to remove one of his never-ending kidney stones. This was right before surgery--he's the only person I know who is at peace and smiles before going under! All the nurses love him and his kind, patient, soft-spoken manner!

Last weekend we went to Green Bay to visit the family. I usually hate riding in the dark cuz I can't read to pass the time but we were blessed with a HUGE orange moon that lit things up and guided us all the way!

REAL hunters!

I took Sophie for a long walk in the woods the other day and found this feeding station that the neighbors had built to feed the deer(which the deer or someone tipped over but you get the idea). It was full of corn and apples and I thought "how nice" until I looked up-the next picture explains it all!

Here are the two tree stands about 15 ft above the feeder! Big challenge there!

Happy Fall!

I realized today in church how negative I have been about fall and the coming winter (you may have noticed!) and realized I have done a great disservice to God by dreading the end of summer. We were singing "How Great Thou Art" and the one verse is aboutwalking in the woods and I realized He made the seasons for MY pleasure and how sad He is that I don't enjoy them. I guess that if I didn't have winter, I wouldn't be so excited about the warmth and planting in summer. I also learned in my Bible study that He has put me here in this place, at this time, for this SEASON, for a purpose and my whining about it won't fulfill that purpose! So HAPPY Fall!

I just finished reading "The Memory Keeper's Daughter,which was very
dark and I found it depressing. The characters were emotionally dark and
I'm not wishing there was a sequel. Now I'm reading "Marley and Me", which
is the biography of a yellow Lab. The best read of my year was a 7 book series
about the Ladies of Covington. I loved these ladies and really miss having them
in my daily life! I can always tell if I've enjoyed a book by whether or not I want
more of the characters' lives. While I was reading them, I found these little ladies
in a gift shop and they reminded me of the three ladies in the books so I had to
buy them. Another book I DO wish there was a sequel to is "The Secret Life of
Bees"!

Nerd

Yesterday we went to Stillwater to do some early Christmas and birthday shopping. We got Tim some new lounging pants but he still had a hard time not wearing his usual Sunday attire so here it is! Yes, kids that is your father! He tells me now I know how he used to feel about the girls who used to wear pants under their required dresses in Jr. High!

Yup it's football season in Wisconsin!! This is how Tim usally spends half of the afternoon, watching the game with his eyes shut! Vikings don't play til Mon nite and I'll bet he'll be awake for that one since he is a bit of a nite person!
